Did you recently get into a car accident?  Typically the best time to see a chiropractor after a car accident is 72 hours, but even if the accident was a few months ago it is imperative to contact a licensed chiropractor immediately.  Injuries cause by car accidents can be a bit tricky.  Even though you may feel no pain or discomfort after the injury, there is a good chance you will develop symptoms over time which will lead to chronic pain.

"The threshold for cervical spine soft tissue injury becomes a reality at 5 mph.  The amount of damage to the automobile bears little relation to the force applied to the cervical spine of the occupants" - Charles Carroll MD, Paul McAtee MD, and Lee Riley MD.  This means that even if the car accident did not seem too bad, the damage done to soft tissue can be severe.  Chiropractors are trained to identify injuries that do not exhibit symptoms and they are capable of correcting injuries from car accidents before they develop into long term problems like chronic pain or even arthritis.  If you have been in a recent – or not so recent- car accident, the best thing to do is see a chiropractor immediately.

Another important reason to see a chiropractor after a car accident is money – yes money.  What may start out as a pain in the neck could eventually lead to a serious problem, and you want to make sure you are taken care of.  Not visiting a chiropractor after a car accident weakens your claim to injury, and consequently the money you are entitled to in order to treat your injury.  Insurance adjusters take into account whether or not you have seen a chiropractor or other medical professionals.

Although money should most definitely not be your main concern after a car accident, it is important to make sure you are financially taken care of in the event of a long term injury.  First and foremost however, it is important to see if there is a problem to begin with.  This is why you should see a chiropractor after being in a car accident: to examine the damage done to the spine, neck, and soft tissues and to relieve the pain that is associated with automobile accidents.  We at Warm Springs Chiropractics specialize in handling automobile accidents and will schedule an immediate appointment to help you begin the path towards recovery.  If you are in a car accident call  (510) 490-6275 to schedule a necessary appointment right away.
